World Fest comes to Marinette/Menominee
World Fest is a project of Arts Midwest and connects Midwestern communities to international musicians to foster an understanding of and appreciation for global uniqueness and differences. Marinette/Menominee is one of 9 Midwestern communities to be selected as a World Fest community for the next three years and will host six international ensembles during this time. The next free community concert will take place on Saturday, February 17 at 6 p.m. The performance will be held at Theatre on The Bay at the UW-Green Bay, Marinette Campus and will feature artist Farah Siraj.
Named Jordan’s Musical Ambassadress, Farah Siraj balances a career that spans the United States, Europe, and the Middle East, having performed on some of the world’s most prestigious stages, including the United Nations, Nobel Prize Hall, World Economic Forum, and Lincoln Center. As a humanitarian, Farah focuses on raising awareness about the consequences of war and violence, and advocates for women’s rights, refugee rights
and animal rights.
This is a program brought to us by Arts Midwest and the National Endowment for the Arts on a 3-year grant program, and is sponsored additionally by many local organizations.
