Introducing the Library Liaison Program

Liaisons are your first stop in connecting you to library services and collections. The Liaison Program is a partnership between faculty and librarians with the aim to improve learning and teaching, especially in the area of information literacy. In this partnership, the librarian’s expertise in library resources and information literacy concepts complements the subject and teaching knowledge of the faculty.

What Can a Liaison Librarian Do for Faculty:

  • Work with you to tailor a library instruction session to meet the information literacy needs of your class.
  • Collaborate with you to build online research guides for specific courses.
  • Support your distance education courses by customizing library services for an online environment.
  • Consult with you on your research needs and assist in finding difficult-to-track-down information.
  • Work with you and your colleagues to learn about how your departmental goals, curriculum, and course assignments relate to the library.
  • Offer training and demonstrations of new library resources and services of interest to your department.

What Can a Liaison Librarian Do for Students:

  • Consult with you on your research needs and assist in finding difficult-to-track-down information.
  • Offer training and demonstrations of new library resources and services of interest to you or any academic/ study groups to which you belong.
