Schneider, a global leader in transportation and logistics, has established a pivotal partnership with UW-Green Bay to support the university’s new Master of Science in Supply Chain Management program. This collaboration includes scholarship funding, support in program design, classroom engagement, and a speaker series—a boon for both the university and the region.
Schneider’s connection with UW-Green Bay runs deep. As the top employer for UW-Green Bay alumni, Schneider saw an opportunity to address a local need in a region with a long history of shipping and supply chain expertise. “It was important to us that we get a quality master’s program here in our own backyard,” said Jim Filter ‘98, President of Global Operations at Schneider, himself a UW-Green Bay grad.
Schneider has played a key role in shaping the new program’s curriculum to align with industry demands. They have also given scholarships to MA students and plan to donate time by inviting current professionals to speak to classes. Filter emphasized the value of learning from peers in the field who have first-hand supply chain experience.
Another Schneider initiative, the Bridging Success Through Leadership speaker series at UW-Green Bay, was established to connect students with industry leaders, create an opportunity for learning, and encourage networking skills. Mark Rourke, Schneider’s President and CEO kicked off the series last fall with a successful talk followed by a Q&A with attendees.
Schneider’s investment underscores its belief in purposeful community engagement. By contributing resources, expertise, and time, the company aims to create a legacy of leadership and innovation in supply chain management, strengthening both UW- Green Bay and the region’s shipping and logistics leader status. “My hope is that this program gets built out to the one of the top programs in the country,” said Filter, “We’re thrilled to play a role in that going forward.”
