HVAC/Refrigeration Specialist – Advanced

This position reports to Heating Plant Superintendent and assists in carrying out the mission and philosophy of the Office of Residence Life at the University of Wisconsin Green Bay.  This position is responsible for working collaboratively with others in providing services for a residential community housing 2,200 students and 2,500 summer guests residing in 29 University housing facilities.

Primary responsibilities of this position include Heating, Ventilating, Air Conditioning (HVAC)/Refrigeration equipment troubleshooting, adjusting, modifying, inspecting, maintaining, repairing, performing preventative maintenance and assisting with major installations of HVAC/R projects.  This position will also assist with the repairs of mechanical, plumbing and electrical systems; building security and fire safety systems; and general facilities repair.

Winter Break Fitness Challenge – Week One

Automotive/Equipment Technician

This position reports to the Grounds Supervisor and is responsible for the mechanical maintenance and repair of all campus owned motorized equipment and vehicles. Responsibilities include identifying, scheduling, and performing preventive maintenance and repair work.  This position requires knowledge of many different types of hand, power, air, and diagnostic tools.  Work is preformed independently, and in a timely manner with limited supervision.   Knowledge and experience to carry out all mechanical needs such as small engine repairs, major engine and drive train overhauls, tire repairs, tune ups, and metal fabrication is required. The position requires good communication skills to deal with the customers and fellow employees. This position performs bi – annual vehicle and ATV inspections.

Welcome Riaz Ahmed!

Riaz AhmedOn January 5, 2018, MD Riaz U Ahmed started as an Assistant Professor in Mechanical Engineering for the Natural and Applied Sciences Department.  Riaz was a postdoctoral fellow at the University of South Carolina and an Assistant Professor at Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) in Bangladesh.

Riaz has a Ph.D. and MS from the University of South Carolina and his BS from KUET.  He enjoys traveling and playing games, especially cricket, soccer, chess, and badminton.  Riaz loves teaching and having a friendly relationship with everyone around him!

He is married and has 2-1/2-year-old daughter.  His hometown is Noakhali, Bangladesh.

Associate Athletics Director – Finance and Human Resources Operations

This position reports to the Controller, with a dotted line to the Director of Athletics, and is responsible for providing oversight and management of the athletics department finances and human resources administrative duties.  Supervise financial staff in athletic department, to include hiring of staff, staff development and training, performance evaluations, and implementation of corrective measures as deemed appropriate.

Facilities Maintenance Specialist

The Facilities Maintenance Specialist – Advanced reports to the Maintenance Supervisor and is responsible for operation, maintenance, and repair of general plumbing fixtures and components.  This position will also perform general inspection, repair, and preventative maintenance of campus building structures including door locks hardware and various campus equipment.  In addition, this position performs preventative maintenance, inspections, and other seasonal activities, and is responsible for inspecting laboratory systems and equipment and making necessary installations and repairs. This position will also maintain an appropriate parts inventory, order parts when necessary and provide professional advice on the materials and time required to complete various tasks.  The Facilities Maintenance Specialist – Advanced may also direct the work of student and/or University Staff Temporary employees as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor.

HR System Issues on Tuesday, January 2nd

There are HR system issues the morning of Tuesday, January 2nd which are preventing employees from accessing their timesheet, earnings statements, absence requests, and web clock.  We apologize for the inconvenience.  The UW-Service Center is aware of this system-wide issue, and are working to fix it.  In the mean time, please manually record your time worked.  We will update this post as new information is received.

Welcome Mindy Sackett!

On January 2, 2018, Residence Life welcomed Mindy Sackett as a new Area Coordinator. Prior to coming to UWGB, she was the Residence Life Coordinator at the University of California-Irvine for 5 years.  She had also worked as a Coordinator of Student Development at Cal Poly for 3 years and did 2 stints with Semester at Seas as a Resident Director.

Mindy has a BS in Biology and Secondary Education from UW-Stevens Point and an MA in Student Affairs Administration in Higher Education from Ball State University.  She loves visiting coffee shops, live music, movies/film festivals, volleyball, gardening, researching family history, and traveling.  She has been to 35 countries and 6 out of 7 continents!

Mindy is from Lakewood, Wisconsin.  She has a 16-year-old cat named Kobe.
