About Wise Women Gathering Place   Wise Women Gathering Place (WWGP) is a grassroots organization located in Green Bay. For years, a group of women gathered at the home of Alice Skenandore, executive director, with children in tow, to learn more about midwifery. From these humble beginnings has grown a nonprofit organization offering programs including:

  • A transitional living program for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault
  • Youth programs focusing on prevention of teen pregnancy, domestic violence, sexual assault, and other risk behaviors
  • Training, technical assistance, and facilitation using Technology of Participation (ToP) Facilitation Methods to build consensus and shared awareness among groups of people in local, state and national settings
  • Healing from intergenerational trauma through a community-facilitated White Bison: Mending Broken Hearts initiative

WWGP’s mission is to promote peace, respect, and belonging through skill-building, sharing of resources and caring support for our community. The organization has maintained 501(c)3 status since 1998, and is funded primarily through federal and some local grants. WWGP primarily serves Native American children and families that live in the greater Green Bay and Oneida areas.
