It’s the middle of the semester, we’ve all just returned from spring break, and the weather (for… er, the most part) has been much nicer than the months of winter conditions. It’s the perfect concoction for dragging our feet on putting in our best effort for course work and involving ourself in activities.
Now is a great time for a refresher on some of the campus organizations and resources that can help you get the most out of your college experience – and help you be a more engaged student.
We list five organizations and spaces below, but there are more than 100 clubs that you can find here.

Center for Games and Interactive Media
The Center for Games and Interactive Media (CGIM) offers a variety of different facets within the world of gaming: from game creation (whether it be a tabletop role-playing game, digital game, board games and more), to research, to community engagement.
Additionally, CGIM (IS 1066) hosts game nights in the Phoenix Club every other Tuesday throughout the semester, streams game play on Twitch, and participates in several projects such as the annual Global Game Jam and Phoenix AR.

Pride Center
UWGB is proudly named a top school in the U.S. for LGBTQIA2S+ students, and the Pride Center (UU153) is to thank for that.
The center provides ally, QTBIPOC, transgender, youth, two-spirit, and educator resources, and also provides free safe ally training to all students, staff, and faculty on campus.
In addition to resources, the center also hosts several events throughout the year, which you can keep up with on their Instagram.

The Learning Center
If you ever need help with assignments or papers, The Learning Center (Room CL207) has you covered. Students can receive tutoring, writing support, academic success coaching, and can even join an accountability group. Did we mention these resources are completely free?
The center also provides opportunities for students to work as a tutor, which you can learn more about here.

Sheepshead Review and Northern Lights Journal
While students can take Sheepshead Review and Northern Lights as classes, they are also welcome to join the organization and be part of the literary magazines without taking the course.
Participating in the creation of these two litmags is a great way to meet new people (and potential friends!) within the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences while providing real-world experience in the literary and publishing industries.

Lawton Gallery
Not only does the Lawton Gallery showcase several different exhibitions throughout the academic year, it also creates a space for students, staff, and faculty to connect with its Art @ Noon event series.
Held on the third Wednesday of each month, Art @ Noon allows those in the UWGB to connect over coffee, cookies, music, and – of course – art.
To find out when the next Art @ Noon event is happening, check out Lawton Gallery’s Instagram.
