UW–Green Bay Produces NEW Community-Focused Podcast

The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay is nearing the launch of its latest media initiative The Lantern, a podcast about discovery, resilience, and transformation with a particular focus on stories of northeastern Wisconsin. Produced in the newly-established Blair Podcast Studio, the first episode of The Lantern releases on Aug. 5, featuring Chef Jyll Everman of Fox 11 Living and Gather on Broadway.

Hosted by Dr. Ryan Martin, Dean of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences at UW-Green Bay, The Lantern features local leaders – business owners, legislators, media personalities, and others –  who share their journey toward success, those who helped illuminate their path, and their aspirations and goals.

“I want listeners to feel inspired, but also to recognize that there are a lot of different paths to success,” Martin said. “I want for people to recognize the common threads across these stories which often involve curiosity, creativity, mentorship, and support.”

The first batch of episodes feature a wide range of guests, including Chris Kimbrough of Starz Barber & Beauty, Barb LaMue of N.E.W North, Congressman Adam Kinzinger, Alderman Brian Johnson, and Corey Behnke from LiveX.

“Northeastern Wisconsin is a really special place and there are a lot of fascinating and inspiring people here who’ve done some really amazing things,” Martin said. “I wanted to shine a light on those people… and share what inspired them on their personal and professional journeys.”
