Green Bay women’s basketball has gotten off to a solid start to the 2025-26 season, posting an 8-4 overall record and a 3-0 mark in the Horizon League. The Phoenix’s early-season success has been largely due to the six transfers added during the offseason, along with contributions from multiple returners.

The six transfers to the Phoenix are as follows: Kamy and Kallie Peppler from Milwaukee, Lily Hansford from Iowa State, Maddy Skorupski from Oakland, Gracie Grzesk from Wisconsin, and Carley Duffney from South Dakota.

Other key returners for the Phoenix include Jenna Guyer, Meghan Schultz, and Ellie Buzzelle. Since returning from injury, Guyer has entered the starting lineup for the first time in her career as a senior. She has started in four out of her seven appearances this season, all of which have come in the last four games. Guyer ranks second on the team in scoring at 12.0 points per game, and is second in 3-point makes with 12 on 33 attempts, good for a 36.4 %.

Meghan Schultz has been the leader in multiple categories for Green Bay, after minimal playing time a season ago, averaging 14.3 points and 5.3 rebounds per game. Schultz has scored at least 20 points in four games, including a career-high 26 points against North Dakota on Nov.11. She also recorded her first career double-double on Nov. 22 against Kansas State, scoring 12 points and bringing down 10 rebounds.

Ellie Buzzelle has also been a key contributor off the bench, averaging 4.4 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game. Buzzelle has had three games scoring double figures, scoring 12 points twice and 10 points in those outings.

Skorupski, Duffney, and Peppler have each started all 12 games for the Phoenix this season, while Grzesk has started eight games. In a balanced attack, each of the four players is averaging between 7.6 and 9.6 points per game. Peppler is averaging 5.0 assists, and Skorupski is at 3.8 assists per game, as the backcourt duo leads the Horizon League. Skorupski also ranks sixth in the Horizon League in steals, averaging 1.9 per game.

The team most recently lost to #19-ranked Washington 79-74 on Saturday, Dec. 13, in which the Phoenix led for a large part of the game, including an 11-point advantage with 9:45 remaining. Guyer scored a season-high 19 points, Skorupski added 14, and Duffney and Schultz each contributed 13 points.

With a tough schedule that included four NCAA Tournament teams from 2025, the Phoenix has competed with single-digit losses against Power 5 conference opponents, including Washington and Wisconsin. Green Bay also defeated Kansas State, a Sweet 16 last season, winning 47-44 on Nov. 22.

Green Bay started 3-0 in Horizon League with wins over Northern Kentucky, Youngstown State, and IU Indy. In conference games, Green Bay has the best scoring margin in the Horizon League, averaging 66.7 points per game, while giving up a conference-low of 51.3 per game. Green Bay finishes up its non-conference slate with a road game at Miami Ohio on Saturday, Dec. 20, before returning to conference play on Dec. 30th at Wright State.
