The countdown is on for the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay. In just a few weeks, it will host its spring commencement on May 17 at the Kress Event Center.

One of the graduates is Bryssa Lenz, a Criminal Justice major and Communication minor, who is preparing for graduation in the final weeks of the semester.

“It doesn’t feel real yet. I feel like I just started, and now, looking back, the four years went by so fast,” Lenz said.

One person who has had a front-row seat to that growth is Kaitlyn Conway, Lenz’s close friend. While Conway is not graduating this spring, she plans to be in the crowd on May 17, cheering Bryssa.

“She’s worked incredibly hard for this,” Conway said. “I’ve seen the late nights, the burnout, the doubts, and I’ve also seen her push through and come out stronger every time.”

Another senior graduating this spring is Anna Wendorf with a double major in social work and psychology. Wendorf said, “Although I am planning to get my master’s, this is such a huge step in my career and my future, and I’m so excited to see what comes next.”

Graduation marks a transition not just for the students walking the stage, but for the friends and family who supported them along the way. Conway said, “It’s bittersweet watching someone close to her move on.”

UW-Green Bay’s commencement ceremonies will include remarks from Chancellor Michael Alexander, recognition of student honors, and the conferral of degrees across all four campuses: Green Bay, Marinette, Manitowoc, and Sheboygan.

Students will wear caps and gowns, hear their names called, and celebrate with classmates, professors, and loved ones.

As the campus enters the final projects, last exams, and cap-decorating parties, the graduating class of 2025 is preparing to leave UW-Green Bay behind, but not without taking its lessons with them.

“I am not 100% sure what comes next,” Lenz admitted with a smile. “But I know I’m ready for it. I’ve built something here, confidence, friendships, skills, and I know I’ll carry that with me wherever I go.”
