More than 51 million American households in 45 states can now recycle cartons through curbside recycling programs, the Carton Council announced.
Alabama recently became the 45th state to offer carton recycling via one of its residential recycling programs, according to a news release.
“Just three years ago only 26 states had carton recycling programs,” said Jason Pelz, vice president of environment for Tetra Pak North America and vice president of recycling projects for Carton Council, in a statement. “It confirms the tremendous value behind cartons, which are recycled into tissue products, printing and writing paper, and even building materials.”
