Disorganized

The stress for trying to stay organized for multiple classes has been a struggle for me this year in college. One of these struggles comes from a chemistry class I’m currently taking. This class requires a lot attention to detail when working with different chemicals. The attention to detail is the main stressor because it is what consumes the most amount of time. The second stressor is trying to organize the sheets of paper that we used that day to record what we did. This class isn’t really a tough workload but more of a class that everything must be right or else the chemical reaction will go completely wrong. So, when it comes down to the actual content we work on then things start to get a little tricky because there is a lot of chemical equations that are used at different times at different parts of the chemical reaction. Currently there isn’t just one class I’m struggling with.

This other class I’m struggling with is an online class that I knew from the beginning was going to be a hard class just because it is a government class that focuses on an aspect of government that isn’t talked about a whole lot. The class is about part of the nonprofit section of the government. For this class one assignment that was making it difficult to stay organized was trying to find multiple nonprofit organizations that were trying find loopholes in the system. There was this group project assignment where I had to help look up nonprofit organizations in the religious section. The problem I found with this was that my group members didn’t even try to meet up together to work on it. So, it got hard for me to organize my work for this class because there was no motivation to do it. With this lack of motivation, the project was getting pushed back and back until the night it was due were we managed to turn it in on time.

Online Struggles?

For when it comes to online classes many are still deciding whether they should continue to offer them because pros and cons continue to grow. Pros for online classes is that you will be able to move at your own pace completing homework. As well as if you want to continue your college career and must work at the same time it can be very stressful having to drive to school then to work every day. That is beneficial for a lot of people including myself because some people don’t work best with a deadline they are constantly being reminded about. So being able to work at your own pace is one pro that I found useful for my online classes. For instance, I had an online class where I had to write about global politics where the deadline for paper wasn’t until the end of the semester because of how politics keep changing every day. Because I wasn’t reminded constantly, I felt more confident about my work then when I would be constantly reminded.

Cons being that you must constantly remind yourself to do your work for class because you don’t have a teacher there telling when an assignment is due. Last semester I experienced this when I accidently forgot to submit an assignment on the due date because I forgot. During online class for me trying to learn new things becomes harder for me to learn them compared to if I was in an in-person class. Main reason for this being that I’m a hands-on learner and things tend to stick to me better when I do it instead of a teacher just telling and not showing me. Now for me personally I would still pick in-person class over an online because that’s where I feel I would be able to get a better grasp on the things I would be able to learn by being engaged in a classroom environment.

Mind Boggling

Throughout college there have been some stressful things, especially with time management. When I try to set away time to do homework there is always something going on. Most of the time my friends come knocking on my dorm or my roommate is watching a movie. This can be stressful especially when I need to write papers for class. It usually comes down to me doing the assignments before class. Then little by little I start to fall behind in class which then leads me to make a catch-up plan to finish things on time. This would lead to more and more stress knowing if I don’t finish my work as fast as possible then the farther I fall behind in the class.

Now with the catch-up plan I created for my classes. Hanging out with my friends is hard because their class schedules are so different; I don’t know which friend group to hang out with. This leads to my point about when they them knocking on my door. But as time is going by, I’m starting to figure out how to manage time for myself and time for my friends and sticking to it.  When I start to falling behind its sometimes how the teachers share the learn plan for the day then it doesn’t stick to me then it later gets pushed off to later because my mind feels unmotivated to do it until the last minute depending on how big the assignment is.

College Exposure

When I first thought of coming to college, I knew there would be things to do on campus like walk around or hang out with friends. What I didn’t come to realize that during college the school would organize events were you can leave the college and go to amusement parks or movie theaters. As well as many other things to do individually or with friends. Especially these two events, one of these events that just passed was when the Cubs played the Brewers on the 29 of September. The second event that I am excited for is for Friday the 13 were the school is taking us to Freight Fest at Six Flags Great America.

Another thing for my college experiences is my Social and Dorm life. During high school I didn’t really have much of an out of school life except for soccer. But know during college I’m hanging out more and more with friends. This may be a bad thing at some points for the reason being that sometimes may a major impact when I need to decompress from class it also makes an impact with my class work. By not being able to finish the work on time. But then when it comes to dorm life it is more like I’m living at home the reason being that when it comes to quiet hours it’s around the same thing to what I do at home to not wake my parents up from home. Which Is kind of hard to do when the doors just slam shut, and it practically wakes up everyone.
