Online Life: Not Too Shabby

Online classes are what I have been signing up for more often and it surprises me. I think this really surprised me is because when covid was around I hated being online. But in college I love it. I love the fact that its asynchronous and I do the work whenever I want until the due date. So, it’s pretty easy to schedule the work and when I can do it. I just need to make sure I don’t fall behind in it because once you fall behind it’s hard to catch up and you will just keep be getting behind. I think the only frustration I have is logging in every time to canvas that part gets annoying and frustrating. In high school I struggled in online classes just because I had to log into the lessons whereas here I don’t. They post the work, and you get it done. I have Saturdays designated for one class and other days for other classes and that is usually how my schedule works.

I think other students should know that online classes aren’t bad. I think a lot of people think they are the worst thing ever. If you’re super busy and don’t have a lot of time in your schedule it’s a great solution to the problem. I think another positive is that you can eat during class which a lot of classes now don’t allow. Also, I think that people would just enjoy not getting out of bed and just chilling in their bed just doing homework while watching whatever TV

show. I just think the main thing to doing well online is making sure you up for it if you are going into it with a bad attitude the problem not going to go well like most things in life. So, I think if you get your work in on time and do those things you will be fine.

Driving Towards Success

In my opinion, commuters have it hard. I think the ability to wake up on time drive and get to class on time is a huge thing. I think the social aspect is also pretty hard because I think meeting people who live on campus is hard too. I know I’m shy so going out of my way to make friends on campus isn’t the easiest. Also think just getting involved on campus is hard I think if you have a job on campus, if you have intramurals, it is just hard to get to places and do those interesting things. I just think commuting is hard but if you show up and get involved it’s easier. I think a good thing about commuting is the fact that you are by your family every day. I think that’s huge for me since I barely saw them last semester. I also think a good thing about being at home is just the good food. Last semester I was on campus a lot more so I had a meal plan and the food was not very good. So having a home-cooked meal is very nice.

I have always struggled in school so I think some things that are going well for me are my grades are very good and the quality of my work is good, I think. I think some things that I can improve on are just making sure I come to classes and being prepared. I also think some other things that are going well are just staying active. I think that once it starts getting cold I like to just sit around but I think I’m actually going to be very active this upcoming winter. I plan on doing this by doing 3 intramurals including basketball, and 2 different volleyball leagues. Another thing I will be doing to stay active is joining a golf simulator league which will be fun. I think another thing I can improve on is just eating more I think sometimes I just forget to eat and I can’t do that so that’s something I need to work on. Image result for good grades bing.com

Triumphs and Challenges

I expected college to be tough due to the fact that all the teachers were like this wouldn’t slide in college, but in my opinion, college is 10 times better than high school. I really enjoy the social aspect of college and getting to meet new people. One way I meet new people is through intramurals. I play volleyball and softball in this block, and I have already met a lot of new people and I like it because I get to be with friends and meet new people. I also enjoy intramurals because they keep me active. I remember last year’s finals week or the week before we had intramurals and I looked forward to it just to keep my mind off finals for an hour.  I think me being a commuter student kind of sucks due to the fact that you can’t get the “full college experience”, but I also enjoy seeing my family every day.

I think the academic side is always going to be tough for me while I struggle with school, but so far, I’m keeping up in classes and not falling behind which is key. I think something else I’m proud of is making connections with teachers. I think this is one of the most undervalued things due to the fact that people are scared to talk to their professors. I think talking to the professor if you’re struggling or need help shows them you actually care about the class. In the past making these connections with teachers actually helped bump up my grade when I was in between an AB and A.
