Blog #2: Strained Enjoyment

Strained Enjoyment

There are three realities to dorm life. You can love your roommate and be best friends with them, you can coexist, or worst of all you and your roommate won’t get along. Unfortunately, I ended up with the latter. My roommate and I are able to coexist, but we both can irritate each other rather easily. However, there is more to dorm life than just your roommate. For me, I was able to find friends in my dorm. Some of these friends I think will be lifelong friends. Each dorm has its designated categories; First Generation, Sports, Education, or Safe and Inclusive housing. I was assigned to a room in the Safe and Inclusive housing, or open-gender housing. Thankfully, my residence hall was able to come together and we all made friends within the hall. These factors have made my dorm life both strained and enjoyable.

in my friends. On the very first night, our entire residence hall came together and found the abandoned chapel in the woods. Ever since then a large group of us have found good friends in each other. While I am sure I irritate them, and I know they can irritate me, we all have remained good friends. I can see them being in my life for the rest of my life. In the end, dorm life has its pros and cons, but it is worth it.
