Dormitory :A Small Home In A Foreign Land

On my 19th birthday, I came to a strange country, the United States. This strange land makes me a little timid, the people and environment around me make me feel uneasy, let me have no sense of belonging, as if floating in the air. Since it was my first year in the United States, I lived in a dormitory on campus. I also have an American roommate, who was very warm and made me open my heart slowly. We have many common interests. We both like drawing and taking photos, and we have the same schedule, which avoids a lot of clash. She taught me a lot of American customs and festivals, which greatly eliminated my anxiety and made me dependent on the dormitory, which is like my little home in a foreign land. Only in the dormitory can I completely relax .

Our dormitory building is very big. I’m really lucky that my room is the biggest in the whole building. I used to think everyone had this big room, but when I went to my friends’ rooms, they were half the size of mine. The people in the dormitory are very friendly, I make a lot of new friends, they sometimes drive me out to play, show me their families, taste the food made by their families. On the second floor of the dormitory, there are two kitchens and lounges. My Chinese friends and I often cook Chinese food in the kitchen. I am so excited about the taste of eating at home here. We also use the kitchen to bake cakes and chicken wings and so on. The dormitory more and more like home. I gradually relax and enjoy it all. Enjoying the laughter of friends, enjoy the soft bed in the dormitory, and enjoy every day in America. The initial panic has long been eliminated, and the only thing left is the dependence on this small home in a foreign land and the expectation of future college life. I’m sure I’ll like it more and more.
