The Pros and The Cons

When it comes to online classes there are most definitely many pros and cons. Some pros are that the classes are a little slower paced and easier to keep track of all of your homework. I feel a lot more flexibility within an online class because the professor is typically more lenient about getting your work in at a specific time. Another benefit is being able to either attend your class or do your classwork wherever you are most comfortable with. One thing that I have also found in my time at UWGB is none of my online classes so far have required any textbooks which has saved me at least $50 for each of the online classes I have taken so far. Finally, one last thing that has benefited me is that I am able to fit more classes into my schedule. Coming into college I did not want to take any online classes, but after last semester when it came time to enroll in classes I found it a bit difficult to fit what I needed to into my schedule. The easiest way to do so was no fit a few online classes in so I can stay on track to graduate.

Along with the pros comes a few cons. I struggle a lot with procrastination. The reason I did not want to take any online classes is that during covid in high school I was not getting my work done and falling behind in most classes. Since I felt like I had freedom to get the homework done whenever I usually put it off until last minute in which I lost all motivation to even start it. Another thing I have ran into a few times have been technology problems. The other day when attending an online class my lap top randomly crashed. This can have an effect on your grade in classes based on participation and attending your online meetings. Finally, one last con is that I do not feel as engaged in the class and feel like I don’t know my classmates and sometimes even the professor other than emails sent out. I feel a lot better about my environment and more

willing to participate when getting to know my classmates a bit more beyond the screen they are sitting behind.
