September 2nd, 7am, the alarm clock beeps. I wake up in a new dorm, with a new roommate, in a new environment. This is everything I have ever wanted right? freedom , new people, new places finally being able to pursue the dream I have had since I was
a little girl? Then why did I hate every single second of it? If someone had asked me exactly at that point in time, I would have given college a two out ten.
College has been a huge adjustment as it would be for anyone, but the more I got into my routine and met new people things started to feel a little bit better. Oh, look at that its time for class! I would rate the classes eight out of ten because I love how much we can make our own schedule and we can take classes that mostly relate to the things that we are interested in. Oh shoot I forgot about an assignment, no one reminded me, I guess that’s independence for you. I would give the independence aspect a seven out of ten, because even though I have loved being able to be my own person, it gets lonely sometimes. I miss the people I have known my whole life, who shaped me into the person that I am today. I’m so hungry, I better go get some dinner. When it comes to eating on campus I would have to give that a five out of ten. Sometimes the food seems like Gordon Ramsey cooked it himself while other times it seems inedible which is why I would have to give it a rating right down the middle. All of these aspects help every student grow, both academically and in their flexibility. College is a phenomenal opportunity that comes with its ups and downs and a lot of adapting.
Thursday March 22nd, 7am, the alarm clock beeps. I wake up in my same dorm with the same roommate, in a familiar comfortable environment. Even though it’s not like anything I’d imagined, it’s so much more. I needed this experience to shape my character and if you ask me today I would rate college a seven out of ten.
