First off, online classes are not perfect but they are manageable if people are smart about it. I have found that many classes at UWGB have been offered online with very few of the same classes offered in person. For example, my psychology class was only available online. But, I managed this class by doing the assignments a week before they were due. I did this in case I would run out of time to complete the content when my on campus classes got busier. Working ahead was definitely beneficial when it came to my online classes; I could do a whole unit of content in just a day. Another tip was to email the professor whenever I had a question about an assignment. Just because I never met the professor in person did not mean I couldn’t reach out for help. Therefore, submitting work well before due dates and emailing professors when necessary are some of my useful tips.
Secondly, there are some things I avoided during my online classes. For instance, I didn’t cheat or look up every answer to the online quizzes. I found it more beneficial to actually learn the content and to care about my assignments. Another thing I did while attending the online classes was sitting up to complete my work. I didn’t stay in bed the whole time while I was working on assignments and this led to me being more focused. Also, I wasn’t on Tiktok or Snapchat while I worked on assignments as well. Most importantly though, I made sure to actually take notes on the lectures. I felt that taking notes on each lecture video no matter the length would help me in the long run. Spoiler, it did. This made it so that I didn’t even need to look up answers and knew what I was doing in the class. Therefore, I believe that it is very important to not cheat, stay focused, and take notes. Especially when it comes to online classes and how tempting it is to do less work. At the end of the day, we’re taking these classes to learn and prepare for the future, so why not try?
