Unleashing Inner CEO

Ever since I was a little girl, I have always dreamt of what it would be like to call my own shots. I have always been a fairly independent person when it comes to my life; however, I have always had someone whispering in my ear, pointing me in directions that I didn’t always want to go in. I knew that once I moved off to college those dreams of calling the shots would become a reality. Since college has started, I’ve been loving being able to be my own person and make all my decisions. Although it has been lots of fun, there have been a few setbacks as well. It has been very hard to manage my school work with free time and knowing when is the right time to say no. There have been many nights where I have had to do schoolwork, but I also get asked to go out and do something with my friends, and I have to choose between what is the right decision. Another thing that has been challenging is being responsible for the important decisions that are needed to be made. This may include paying for college on time, budgeting my money, and using time management.

Although there are some challenges to being your own boss and making your own decisions, there are also some benefits as well. By being my own boss, it has allowed me to be able to make my own schedule. When I started college, I loved being able to pick my own classes, and decide when I was going to be taking them. In high school, we had no control over what time we were going to take our classes, and we were just forced into them. Since college has started, being my own boss has made me realize how strong I am as a person. It has made me realize the different characteristics that I hold such as being a strong independent woman, being hardworking, and being responsible, and the different things that I can accomplish on my own such as getting my work done on time, keeping my room neat and organized, and planning out my week. I know that I have made the little girl that always wanted to call her own shots very proud.
