The True Ways of College

Throughout high school I always was worried about college because I was always told it was a lot of work and studying, especially from my mother. However, she also said it’ll be a lot of fun. I’m living on campus so I can experience it all. So, moving into the dorms, I always thought I’d have a roommate that I wouldn’t like or that we’d argue all the time. I always thought it to be chaotic and loud just because of all the people from different backgrounds. I thought that I wouldn’t be close to my teachers where they didn’t know me by my first name. I was very worried and anxious about coming to college and living on campus. There’s a lot I didn’t think I was going to be ready for.

Coming to college was a whole different story, however. Sure, there’s work and studying but not as much as I thought there would be, just that the assignments take a while to do. I tell my mother about campus life and how much fun it is, and she’s so happy and proud of me. Living on campus is the best. There’s always something to do no matter what time of day or night. The dorms aren’t that loud, and my roommate and I are practically best friends. We both come from two different backgrounds. He’s fully Irish and I’m fully Native American. So, we talked about each other’s backgrounds and talked about each other’s experiences with high school. With my teachers, I’m actually really close to most and hangout with a few even during non-class hours. Overall, I love it here and definitely glad reality beat my expectations.
