Believing in Myself

College, work, single-parenting, that is my reality these days. Managing all of the above when there is a time restraint can be a challenge. I am proud of myself for making this huge leap towards a better future for myself and my daughters. Staying positive and believing I can and will do it is helping me to keep my stress level down. I am going easy on myself and doing my best to keep things simple. While some days are harder than others and I expected that I would be losing my mind with overwhelm by now, I am learning every day that it is possible to accomplish my goals and keep up with my responsibilities at the same time.

Although my college experience isn’t like your typical experience, and I don’t have much time to myself I am grateful to be here. I have found ways to be resourceful with my time such as listening to lecture captures on my 40 minute commute to school to get some study time in. I’m optimizing what I have and getting things done despite the obstacles and constraints. I know that everything happens when it is supposed to and I could not see the me that I was five years ago being able to handle all of this responsibility as well as I am now. Being in college has given me a much needed confidence boost in my ability and shown me I am a multidimensional person.
