Here are a few pseudo-panoramic pictures that I have pieced together from various locations on the Panama trip.(Click the thumbnails to see the full pictures)
The hydroelectric generation facility located deep within a mountain near Fortuna. We had to drive 1.6 km down into the mountain in order to reach this location. The large blue cylinder is one of the three water-driven electric generators.
A look at the canal in both directions from the viewing floor at the Miraflores Locks. A large ship passes through the upper lock while another ship is being raised through the lower lock. Large ships can pay over $100,000 to pass through the canal system.
Looking downstream at the Rio Frijoles off of pipeline road. The site is similar to that which we will be sampling for freshwater fish.
