Alumni Spotlight – Dan Flannery

Writing this post made me a little nervous being that this week’s featured alumni has been a successful writer for the past 30 years!  No critiquing please:)  Meet alumnus Dan Flannery, an all around great guy and a fantastic writer.  Another alum UW-Green Bay is very proud of.

Employment: Executive editor, The Post-Crescent/ www.postcrescent.com; regional executive editor, Gannett Wisconsin Media
Family: Wife Mary; daughters Jennifer and Melanie; grandsons Matthew, William and John
Hobbies: Guitar, golf, movies, dining, cottage life in Oconto County
Volunteer Interests: Board member for the Community Blood Center in Appleton, oversee four annual Do It! Community Challenges at The Post-Crescent that raise money and awareness for basic needs and services.
Something you don’t know about Dan: He was a student station manager and operations manager at WGBW-FM, the UW-Green Bay campus radio station in the late 1970s-1980; did variety of shows, news/sportscasts. He also played guitar and bass and sang in lounge-disco bands of the day. Dan is one of UWGB’s Top 25 featured alumni in 2008’s “Degrees of Excellence” honors (www.uwgb.edu/25000/featured/flannery.html).
