  1. When did you graduate? I graduated in May 2012.
  2. What do you do now? I am currently a graduate student in Social Psychology at The Ohio State University.
  3. Why did you major in psychology? I chose psychology for many reasons. I remember really connecting to the first psychology course I took. Using science to understand human behavior and development helped answer a lot of the questions I had about the world. I also love how psychology helps people become more empathic and compassionate towards others, and toward themselves. A psychology major not only benefits students professionally, but personally as well.
  4. What do you do for fun? I think my job in mentoring undergraduate students IS fun! But beyond the academic environment, I enjoy seeing musicals/performances, staying healthy with yoga, and staying connected to friends/family through snail mail.
  5. What academic experience or accomplishment are you most proud of? I’m proud of being accepted to the number one social psychology program in the nation. With such rigorous training I’ve certainly faced challenges but they have made my Masters degree and getting through candidacy exams all the more rewarding.
  6. What’s your favorite movie, book, and TV show, related to psychology? Name something that isn’t related to psychology! I think right now my favorite books are “We Are Called To Rise” and “The Other Wes Moore.” I’ve always loved the TV show Dollhouse, recently watched Parenthood, and am currently watching This Is Us. My favorite movies are anything Pixar/Disney. For example, Zootopia was a wonderful portrayal of how our stereotypes and expectations bias the way we see the world and treat others.
  7. What an important goal or accomplishment you are currently working on? I’m set to defend my dissertation and graduate with my PhD at the end of this school year. This experience will likely become my proudest accomplishment. I’m also on the job market this year and am looking for a tenure-track assistant professor position where there is a balance between teaching and research. Hopefully I’ll find the right fit before the year is out!
