1. When will you graduate? I will graduate this May.
2. What are your career plans?  My career plans are to continue with my education and get my masters degree in social work and become a licensed clinical social worker. From there I want to do therapy in prisons and research to see what rehabilitation programs actually work in certain areas for helping them adjust back to society.
3. Why did you major in psychology?  I majored in psychology because I have always found it interesting. I was first in a psychology class in high school and wanted to pursue a career in it from there on.
4. What do you do for fun? For fun I like to hang out with my friends, doing a variety of things. Sometimes that means a chill night or going out on adventures!
5. What academic experience or accomplishment are you most proud of? My academic experience that I am most proud of is studying abroad. Both times that I went I was able to volunteer in communities that have a lot less than I do. Through this experience I became more grounded and thankful for what I do have. Being able to give to those communities as well was an amazing experience for our group as a whole. Seeing their faces light up was amazing. Some of the toys we gave out were the child’s first toy ever so that was really a special experience.
6. What’s your favorite movie, book, and TV show related to psychology?  Movie: What About Bob? I recently saw this movie and it had me in tears I was laughing so hard. Not only is it based on a client and his therapist, but it shows how sometimes the therapist needs a break as well. Book: The Mirror Sisters, this is not only a book with several psychology references, it is also kind of a horror book as well. Over all it’s a great read for anyone who likes these kinds of books. TV Show: Fraiser, I grew up watching this show and I loved the whole idea of a psychologist even at a young age. This also probably pushed me further into my career choice as well.
7. What single thing do you hope to accomplish at UWGB before graduating?  The last thing that I will do for my undergraduate degree is participate in Camp Lloyd. I hope that I can make a difference in a least one of the children’s life. Reminding them that they are not alone, this is not their fault, and it is okay to have fun and just be a kid again. Loss is not an easy thing to deal with, and I hope through this camp we can all make a difference for these children.
8. What else do you want people to know about you? I love the show Supernatural, I love to travel, and I can’t wait to start my masters program in the fall.

  1. When did you graduate? I graduated in May 2012.
  2. What do you do now? I am currently a graduate student in Social Psychology at The Ohio State University.
  3. Why did you major in psychology? I chose psychology for many reasons. I remember really connecting to the first psychology course I took. Using science to understand human behavior and development helped answer a lot of the questions I had about the world. I also love how psychology helps people become more empathic and compassionate towards others, and toward themselves. A psychology major not only benefits students professionally, but personally as well.
  4. What do you do for fun? I think my job in mentoring undergraduate students IS fun! But beyond the academic environment, I enjoy seeing musicals/performances, staying healthy with yoga, and staying connected to friends/family through snail mail.
  5. What academic experience or accomplishment are you most proud of? I’m proud of being accepted to the number one social psychology program in the nation. With such rigorous training I’ve certainly faced challenges but they have made my Masters degree and getting through candidacy exams all the more rewarding.
  6. What’s your favorite movie, book, and TV show, related to psychology? Name something that isn’t related to psychology! I think right now my favorite books are “We Are Called To Rise” and “The Other Wes Moore.” I’ve always loved the TV show Dollhouse, recently watched Parenthood, and am currently watching This Is Us. My favorite movies are anything Pixar/Disney. For example, Zootopia was a wonderful portrayal of how our stereotypes and expectations bias the way we see the world and treat others.
  7. What an important goal or accomplishment you are currently working on? I’m set to defend my dissertation and graduate with my PhD at the end of this school year. This experience will likely become my proudest accomplishment. I’m also on the job market this year and am looking for a tenure-track assistant professor position where there is a balance between teaching and research. Hopefully I’ll find the right fit before the year is out!

1. When will you graduate? I will be graduating this May 2017.
2. What are your career plans? I hope on going into full time ministry, specifically with college students.
3. Why did you major in psychology? I originally majored in Psychology so that I would gain a degree in Criminal Psychology to be able to go into the prison systems of Green Bay and its surrounding areas to help with the inmates due to the high numbers of non-diagnosed mental disorders. I wanted to help inmates in their circumstances, but also pair my psychology skills with the gospel and working with inmates from both a Psychological perspective but also from a perspective of faith.
4. What do you do for fun? I love to cook for and spend time playing board games with friends and hosting events, re-purposing furniture, and I also love to watch Gilmore Girls with a nice big cup of coffee.
5. What academic experience or accomplishment are you most proud of? I am proud of presenting my undergraduate research studies at the Midwestern Psychological Association in Chicago, Illinois.
6. What’s your favorite movie, book, and TV show related to psychology? For favorites psych movies I am stuck between “Shutter Island” and “The Blind Side”, one for clear depiction of racial and cultural difficulties and the other because of its depiction of a person suffering from Disassociative Identity Disorder and how it affects them throughout the plot of the film. My favorite book would be “Snoop” by Gosling and my favorite TV show would be “The Mentalist”, its pure genius.
7. What single thing do you hope to accomplish at UWGB before graduating? I hope to be an example of a person of faith to my peers, while also learning all that I can while I am here. I love to learn new things, no matter what the perspective.
8. What else do you want people to know about you? The most important thing in my life is my relationship with God, and how He brings me peace, and I can trust that He has a plan and purpose for my life.
