Brian Sutton has a long history of success in creative writing, theatre, and music. His short stories and one-act plays received three Hopwood Awards for creative writing, an award which has also gone to such noted scriptwriters as Arthur Miller (Death of a Salesman, The Crucible) and Lawrence Kasdan (The Empire Strikes Back, Raiders of the Lost Ark). He has sold articles to Playboy, Seventeen, and other magazines, and his short stories have been published in literary quarterlies. He has performed in many plays, including one which won first place in state and regional community-theatre competitions and represented the U.S. at an international theatre festival in Aruba. And he performs regularly in gig bands, with his original songs appearing on CDs by his current band, Rough Draft. In 2010 Brian’s one-act play “Running Mates” received a successful staged reading in the Jean Weidner Theatre. And in May of 2012 two of Brian’s one-act plays, “Running Mates” and a musical revue called “Can I Buy You a Drink?”, will be presented as a double bill by Venture Theatre of De Pere, with Brian directing both plays.
