In the spirit of Dr. King’s legacy and vision, collaborative and community-wide efforts and contributions resulted in an inspirational and well-attended celebration on January 19, 2013.   Among the active contributors to the event include several faculty and staff within the College of Professional Studies.  Involvement in this event reflects one of the primary values of the programs within Professional Studies: To Serve the Public Good.

The UW-Green Bay Professional Studies faculty and staff members who served on the MLK event planning committee, included faculty members Jolanda Sallmann and Francis Akakpo (Social Work); Gaurav Bansal and Mussie Teclezion (Business Administration); Prof. Emeritus Judy Martin (Social Work); and staff member Juliet Cole (Institute for Learning Partnership). Education Professor James Coates delivered a rendition of King’s famous “I Have a Dream” speech, and Juliet Cole also coordinated the annual poster/essay contest and danced with the Nia African and African-American Dancers and Drummers.
