The World Series starts up tonight! I couldn’t be more excited! To me this is the best champion series/game that you will find in all sports. That includes the Super Bowl!! The World Series is such great, dramatic, intense, baseball you will watch.
The match up in this World Series is so intriguing. You have the Yankees with all their money and big name players…CC, Jeter, Tex, Jorge, Burnett, Rivera, and Damon. Then you have the Phillies, the defending champions, who have 3 MVPs on their roster in Rollins, Howard and Utley! Not to mention the Pedro pitching against his “Daddy” in game 2 and Cliff Lee dominating everybody.
To me this World Series is a lot harder to predict than most people think. A lot of people are going with the Yanks because they have CC, and A-Rod is playing so well (I already wrote about that in a previous blog). The Yankees are a great team this year, but both of those players have never produced in the World Series like most of the Phillies roster has. That to me will be a huge factor into how things are going to shape out.
Looking from the Phillies side of things, they need great pitching by Lee, who actually has better numbers than CC this post season. If he can matchup against him everytime he goes out then I think that the Phillies will win this series. They have a explosive offense, but with all those lefties in the line-up it will be huge for them to get hits off of the two Yankee south paws, in CC and Pettitte. Plus they need Lidge to continue to play well, like he has so far this postseason.
I picked the Phillies to repeat before the season and I will stand by that pick and say that they win in 6 games. I won’t like Jimmy Rollins and say 5 games but I think they will get it done! IM GONE

Hey everyone! Today’s blog is going to be about my NBA Predictions, the Milwaukee Bucks and some other random topics. My W.S. preview will be starting tomorrow and going through the whole series. Oh and the Vikings and their QB are coming to town, expect a few words from me on that topic.
Now that you know what is coming up, lets go!
As many of you realize, the NBA season starts tonight! C’s v Cavs, that’s a great way to start the season, which should be a great one too. You have the 3 power houses in EAST (Boston, Cavs, Orlando). The great thing about all those teams, is that they are all in different divisions which basically means they will be the top 3 teams and fighting for home court. You would have to be crazy not to pick those teams to win their divisions. Anyways, enough talk about that, lets get to my pick…..drum roll please….Orlando!! They match up great against the Cavs and with the addition of Vince Carter, they should be even better than last year. Not to mention they will be with their starting point gaurd this time around, in Jameer Nelson. That means they won’t need a power forward bringing the ball up the court. I got them beating the Cavs in the Eastern Conference Finals…Boston’s age will catch up to them this year, along with the injury bug.
Well the WEST should be a more a competition than the EAST. You have the Spurs, Mavs, Trailblazers, Nuggets, Jazz, and the team that I think will win the WEST, the Lakers. The Lakers are by far the beast team in the WEST. That is why I am following the crowd on this one and picking them to make it back to the finals. They made it there without Ron Artest, there is no reason that they won’t make it back with him. Lakers v Spurs in the Western Conference, Lakers win
So I actually have a rematch of last years final. I think that both teams are better this year than last….but I think that the Magic will be able to match the talent of the Lakers and will win the NBA Championship. Dwight Howard is going to have an MVP type year and with VC, Jameer, and Rashard Lewis they finish what they started last year and win it all!
The Milwaukee Bucks start their year on Friday in Philadelphia. I pretty excited to see how their team will be this year. I don’t think they will make the playoffs but I do think that they will be better than most people give them credit for. The analysts need to remember that they an above .500 team with Andrew Bogut in the line up. Scott Skiles just decided that Brandon Jennings, our first pick in last years draft (No. 10), will start the season. Good!! Get the kid some playing time and hopefully he will produce, at the most get some experience.
Surprisingly the Bucks have some depth! They added Kurt Thomas, Charlos Delfino, and Hakim Warrick. That is some good size up front and you aren’t investing anything in those players like you are with Dan Gadzuric. Granted those players really aren’t game changers, but you have to start somewhere if you plan on moving this team out of the NBA’s basement.
If I were Scott Skiles, this is how I would line them up.
My Starters: PG- Brandon Jennings; SG- Micheal Redd; SF- Luc Richard Mbah a Moute; PF- Hakim Warrick C- Andrew Bogut.
My Second unit: PG- Luke Ridnour; SG- Charlie Bell/Jodie Meeks; SF- Charlos Delfino; PF- Kurt Thomas; C- Fransico Elson/Dan Gadzuric….other players that might play and contribute Ersan Ilyasova (SF) and Roko Ukic (PG)
One more random topic that I want to talk about is how Larry Johnson opened his loud mouth and called out his coach. Saying that be has “no credentials” to be a head coach and that his dad had a better resume! Larry man, what are you doing? We know that you already have sour feelings with the Chiefs, but calling out your coach just makes you look like an idiot and it will just hurt you in free agency. People aren’t going to want an aging 30 year old RB who mouths of about his coach. Shut up and play! We know that your team is not good but go out there shut your mouth and play football. I applaud the Chiefs for telling Larry to just stay away. I wouldn’t want players on my team like that and the Chiefs don’t either. Have fun sitting on the bench…if they even let you enter the facilities. I’M GONE!
October 19th
Sorry for the long break everyone! Had a very busy week and fell behind with a lot of things…including my blog
Anyways there has been a lot of action since I have last blogged. The Phillies are up 2-1 in the NLCS. The Yankees are playing the Angels as I write and are up in the series 2-0.
The Phillies are looking amazing and I am not just saying that because I picked them to win the W.S. back in March, but because I actually believe that they are playing great baseball. For them to be able to count on Pedro and Lee the way they did means that they should be playing the Yankees in the W.S. I do realize that the Dodgers are a great ball club and that there is still a lot of baseball to be played. But after putting up 11 runs and Brad Lidge getting back into the closers roll, I don’t see the Phillies losing this series.
As for the Yankees/Angels series…well we know who is the better team in this one. If the Angels don’t pull off a miracle and shut down that amazing offense of the Yanks, I don’t see them winning. I would like to see that happen!! Not very likely though. And what is the deal with everybody anointing A-rod the new “Mr. October” all he did was hit a line drive to right field that just snuck out of a park that should be hosting high school ball. Sure he is having a good postseason, but his whole career in the postseason he hasn’t done anything. Until I see a huge body of work like Reggie Jackson, the real Mr. October, how can you say that about A-rod. That is an insult to Reggie, if you ask me!
Oh and don’t forget to watch the best team in the NFL tonight! THE DENVER BRONCOS. I’ll tell everyone about my football transitive property tomorrow! You will get a kick out of that…i hope!

GAME 4
Last night there was a great baseball game on. Philles v Rockies, I would assume that most of the sports fan out there were watching the MNF game. That was also a good game, but does it really mean anything at this point. Week 5 of the NFL season….not really. Sure all the games are important but what you really should have been watching was the Rockies and Phillies battling it out. For those of you who don’t know, I picked the Phillies to repeat over the Red Sox (at least one team is still in it). So I was pulling for the comeback, but you have to feel bad for Huston Street who basically gave the game to the Phillies. He was so highly touted coming out of college and in the beginning of his pro career he really didn’t live up to the hype and eventuallly got dealt to the Rockies where he turned everything around, until last night. Where he gave up 3 runs in the top of the 9th and helped eliminate his team! Well there is always next year too Rockies! Look at hit this way, you were the worst team in the league to start the season…then fired your manger and WA-LA you make it to the playoffs. It was a good run! Plus at least you have the Broncos…the best team in the NFL according to yours truly since Week 2! I’ll take that credit for that one!
I’m not going to lie! I love blogging about anything and everything about sports! Hopefull you can keep up with my random blabering…I will be on later today sometime! IM GONE
Oct. 12, 2009
First ever blog for Steve!! I’m pumped! I want to updated everyone on the sports world as much as possible this semester and UW-Green Bay athletics.
First off, how about the Men’s soccer team! If anyone was watching the game last Saturday they saw a good one. Winning 3-2 against a team that isn’t the easiest to beat (UIC), in frigid weather and on homecoming is a great win for the phoenix and will hopefully get them recognized nationally as they make the push for the top 25. I’m not the most avid NCAA Soccer fan, but the way these guys are playing makes me want to watch more and more! JC Banks and Tony Walls are putting up sickboy numbers and with the help from everyone else, this team is going some where! Hopefully the fans get out and enjoy this season while it lasts. THEY PLAY UW ON WEDNESDAY AT 7PM!! STUDENTS, YOU BETTER SHOW UP!!
That’s another thing, we are a nationally recognized D1 school!! Not many schools with 6200 kids can say that. So show them that you care and start showing up to the games! I’ll leave it at that right now. Go GB!
Hopefully you will hear from me tomorrow! I will be talking about postseason baseball and how amazing the month of October is….wow the rockies had this one and are letting it slip! IM GONE!
