Move-in Day 2010… how did it go?

Noticed that the Move-in Day 2009 post was receiving comments, so thought one for 2010 would be helpful…

UWGB Move-in Day 2010

So far, this is what’s been said:

Still don’t understand why move-in day has to be on a work day. My husband now has to miss it, which is really disappointing. He and our son are very close. I’d appreciate being able to understand how a weekday is chosen for move-in day, if not for my sake, but for future parents. -Mrs4444 (trying to get an “official” response for this, stay tuned see comments)

My brother had no problems at all! Thanks to all the helpful staff. -Donna Giarusso (wonderful!)

Didn’t receive the student help that was promised, but all turned out fine. -Virginia Kersten (sorry to hear that… what building? what time?)

I think it was nice to have that one last full weekend with our daughter and to have the move in day be special. -Emotionalfreedom (very nice)

  1. I love UW-GB. I now have two children attending. I was disappointed in the mess on the outside of my daughters housing apartment. It has some type of animal feces ( I am assuming) all over on the outside of the building in several locations by the outside stairwells. I would have thought all buildings would have been pressure sprayed to “pretty them up” prior to move in day. There were plenty of cobwebs as well.
That being said I too wish it wasn’t a work day. It is hard in these economic times for my husband to take off work. Not everyone gets vacation time…so it is just 8 hours of no pay. Maybe we could have an option?

“The university chooses to hold the main campus move-in day during the week for a couple key reasons. When the move-in day is scheduled during the week, all university services and departments are open. This allows families to take care of other business during move-in day. Many students and parents like to take care of business, eat on campus, etc. We also work hard to make move-in day a very positive experience. We get over 100 staff and students to participate with helping students move-in their first year on campus. We can provide the best customer service by having everything open during move-in day.”
