In his talk, The Truth About the Civil War, Michael Edmonds will unveil an amazing new digital collection and discuss how everyone from genealogists to re-enactors; from students and teachers to scholars can enjoy it. The Wisconsin Historical Society launched an ambitious project to make original materials about the Civil War available in a free, searchable electronic format. This new collection, Wisconsin in the Civil War, contains thousands of photographs, diaries, memoirs, letters, battle maps, and eyewitness accounts created by Wisconsin soldiers.
Edmonds will also share insights gained from his experience of working eighteen months with firsthand evidence, starting with the basic question, “Why should anyone care about the Civil War 150 years later?”
