Libraries have millions of stories. What’s yours? Cofrin Library invites you to celebrate National Library Week by telling us your story!
Think about these questions:
- What book has influenced you the most?
- Why are you in the library?
- What is your favorite spot in the library?
Stop by the Library’s Plaza entrance, 3rd floor, 5th floor, or 7th floor and fill out a card telling us your story.
Each day we will feature a story on our Facebook page and Twitter account.

As far back as I can go in my memory, I had always like reading anything that crosses my path, but especially books. When I was in second grade my family moved from Mexico to Texas back in the early 80′s. The school that I went to had a beautiful library full of books but none of them in Spanish, every time that my class had library day; I would pick a book and simply stared at it flipping the pages and looking at the pictures trying to guess what it said. One book in particular was my favorite but I never got to read it because I did not learn English that year, my family ended up moving back to Mexico. I eventually came back to the US; I earned a bachelor’s in bilingual education, and started working as a substitute teacher. While working in one of the schools I found this childhood book in one of the classroom library, twenty two years had passed but finally I was able to read what that book said, I enjoyed reading it and flipping those pages once again. This past year Barnes and Nobles published that book in English and Spanish, I bought it and cherish owning it.
