‘Quite an accomplishment’
University Union Director Rick Warpinski, who oversees Shorewood Golf Course, had this to say about the honor. “We are humbled and honored to be recognized as the top nine-hole golf course in the state of Wisconsin as voted on by the Golf Course Owners Association. We take pride in our golf course, and to be mentioned with other prestigious courses in the state like Trappers Turn and The Bull is quite an accomplishment. The staff at Shorewood—including Clubhouse Manager Dan Murphy, Kitchen Manager Sharon Van Lieshout, Greenskeeper Nathan Rusch and their part-time staffs—worked hard all season long providing exceptional service, meals, and course conditions on behalf of Shorewood and UW-Green Bay. While we have closed for the season, planning and preparations have already been started for the 2009 season. Thank you everyone who visited us in 2008 and we look forward to seeing you again next year.”
