Prof. Ray Hutchison (Urban and Regional Studies) presented an invited paper at a Special Session on Chicago Sociology: Service and Professionalization at the annual meeting of the Society for the Study of Social Problems /American Sociological Association (that would be SSSP / ASA).  His paper, titled “Service and Professionalism in the Early Chicago School” highlighted the work of Robert Park with Booker T. Washington at the Tuskegee Institute, and with Charles S. Johnson at Fisk University.  Also on the invited panel was Gary Alan Fine (Northwestern University), Ruth Horowitz (New York University), Mark Hutter (Rowan University), and Wendy Plotkin (H-URBAN newsletter editor).
