Out-of-classroom learning opportunities are well-known features of a UW-Green Bay educational experience and a requirement in Prof. Bill Niedzwiedz’s (Public and Environmental Affairs) Coastal Management class.
In fall, his class took two trips across the state — to Vilas County to study “lakescaping” for wildlife and water quality and to Grand Marais, Michigan, to study erosion of dune systems.

During a ceremony on Veterans Day (Tuesday, Nov. 11), Chancellor David Ward awarded certificates of appreciation to a handful of UW-Green Bay student soldiers who have served in overseas conflicts since the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. The Phuture Phoenix program has benefited more than 5,000 fifth-graders since its inception in 2003, but it also provides invaluable experience to hundreds of UW-Green Bay undergraduates who spend the entire day with the fifth-graders, and follow-up as mentors in their schools.
