Chancellor Thomas K. Harden will preside at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay’s 2012 spring commencement ceremony at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, May 12, in the Kress Events Center on campus. More than 900 University of Wisconsin-Green Bay students are eligible to participate in the spring commencement ceremony, including an all-time high number of undergraduate degree candidates.

Longtime University of Wisconsin-Green Bay faculty member Denise Scheberle has been recognized as the 2012 national teacher of the year by the American Political Science Association. Scheberle will receive the Distinguished Teaching Award at the association’s annual conference later this year in New Orleans.

The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay was notified this week it has been selected for inclusion in the free, downloadable book, The Princeton Review’s Guide to 322 Green Colleges: 2012 Edition. The publishers bill their product — created in partnership with the U.S. Green Building Council — as focusing “solely on colleges that have demonstrated a notable commitment to sustainability.” They say they chose the 322 schools based on a survey conducted in 2011 of 778 colleges in order to include a green metric in their popular college guidebooks and websites.

A UW-Green Bay alumna with extensive campus and community ties has been appointed Director of Development within the University Advancement division at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay. Jeanne A. Stangel will begin her new duties May 1. Assistant Chancellor for University Advancement Beverly Carmichael announced the appointment today (Tuesday, April 10) to conclude a national search.
