2011 WRS Annual Statements

Attention:   All Employees Covered under the Wisconsin Retirement System

Your Wisconsin Retirement System (WRS) annual Statement of Benefits is now available online in the My UW System portal:  http://my.wisconsin.edu.  Login to the portal, go to the “Benefit Information” box, and click on the “Statements” tab.  Click on “ETF Annual Statement of Benefits (WRS) Issued 2012” to view and print your Statement

The WRS annual Statement of Benefits provides you with information about your Wisconsin Retirement System account as of January 1, 2012. Some of the information on the Statement includes 2011 WRS earnings and creditable service; total years of WRS creditable service, and separation and death benefit calculations.  You should review this Statement closely for accuracy.

Change to Statement – Section 2 – After Act 10 Service

The name of your retirement category is in both Sections 1 and 2 of the Statement.  If you are in a General, Teacher or Protective retirement category, all of your creditable service will be listed in the “Before 2000” and/or “After 1999” columns in Section 2 of the Statement.  Only employees in an Elected or Executive retirement category will have creditable service in the “After Act 10” column.  2011 Wisconsin Act 10 changed the way retirement benefits are calculated for Elected/Executive category employees so service earned after Act 10 must be tracked separately for this group of employees.

Year End Information for Classified Employees

**Please review the information below regarding important year-end information for classified employees and supervisors**

Vacation Carry Over
Normally, vacation time must be used within the calendar year during which it is earned.  Per the 2011-2013 Compensation Plan, employees may carry over any unused earned vacation into the following calendar year.  Any vacation carried over from the previous calendar year must be used by December 31 of the following calendar year.

The Human Resources System (HRS) will automatically take any vacation absences entered first from carry over balances before taking from 2013 allocations.

Compensatory Time
Compensatory time is able to be carried into the following calendar year if approved by the immediate supervisor.  If carried over, unused compensatory time must be used by December 31 of the following year or it will be paid out on the final payroll of the calendar year.

Personal and Legal Holidays
Personal and Legal holiday hours may not be carried into 2013 and if not used by December 31, 2012 will be forfeited. 

Annual Leave Conversion Option (Sabbatical)
Forms for all employees eligible for the Annual Leave Conversion Option are now available on the My UW System Portal, under the Time and Absence section, Statements tab.  All completed forms must be submitted to HR no later than Monday, December 3, 2012.

Annual Benefit Enrollment Period Ends on Nov. 2!

3 Days until the Annual Benefit Enrollment Period Ends on November 2!

The Annual Benefit Enrollment Period ends on November 2, 2012 for all participating plans.  All eBenefits elections and/or paper applications must be submitted by Friday, November 2, 2012 at 4:30 p.m. (10:59 p.m. for online ERA enrollment).  Submit paper applications to your institution’s benefits office.  All changes made during this period will be effective January 1, 2013. 

Benefit Changes Allowed during Annual Enrollment 

  • State Group Health Insurance – enroll, change health plans, add/remove dependents, cancel coverage
  • Dental Wisconsin Dental Insurance  - enroll, change plans, add/remove dependents, cancel coverage
  • VSP Vision Insurance – enroll, add/remove dependents, cancel coverage
  • EPIC Benefits+ – if already enrolled, cancel vision insurance, remove dependents, cancel all coverage (no open enrollment) – must use paper application to make changes to this coverage.
  • Individual and Family Group Life Insurance – if already enrolled, increase coverage level, can cancel coverage at any time
  • Employee Reimbursement Account (ERA) Program (Health Care FSA & Dependent Care FSA) – must re-enroll every year

Are you happy with your benefits and do not want to make any changes?  Please take a few moments to review the annual benefit enrollment materials to ensure that your current benefits, health plan and health providers will be available to you next year.  If you do not want to make any changes, you do not have to submit any applications. 

Use eBenefits to Make Elections Online

Log into My UW System and click on the Open Enrollment link in the Benefit Information box to make your elections online. Your elections are submitted after you click on the final submit button and see the following page:  “Submit Confirmation – Your benefit choices have been successfully submitted to your benefits office.”

You cannot use eBenefits to make your ERA Health and/or Dependent Care FSA election.  Make your ERA election at the WageWorks website.  WageWorks will email you a confirmation notice once you submit your election.  You should review this notice for accuracy. 

The Monday after you submit your elections, log into My UW System and go to the “View Benefits Summary Detail” link in the Benefit Information box to confirm your elections.  You will need to enter “01/01/2013” in the date field above the summary and click “Go” to see your 2013 elections. Open Enrollment and 2013 Contribution/Premium Increases

For information regarding 2013 benefit changes and enrollment opportunities, please log into your My UW System Portal and click on the Annual Enrollment Period link under the Annual Benefit Enrollment Period section.

Once you have reviewed the 2013 information, if you would like to make any changes to your benefits, scroll down to the Benefits Information section and click on the Open Enrollment link to begin making changes/enrolling in plans.  An E-Benefits Quick Guide is available to walk through the process of using the Open Enrollment link.

Don’t miss your once a year opportunity to enroll or make changes to your benefits!

The Annual Benefit Enrollment Period begins on October 8, 2012 and ends on November 2, 2012 for all participating plans. 

Detailed benefit information about the Annual Benefit Enrollment period will be provided on www.uwservice.wisc.edu/2013 as it becomes available.  You should also watch your email for details.  You will receive benefits-related emails from benefits@uwgb.edu and from “UW HR Administration.”
