Today the RA/CA spotlight is on Amanda Nothem, a Community Advisor for the Contemporary Apartments. Amanda is a chemistry major with a minor in education. In her free time, Amanda enjoys reading, hiking, running, horseback riding, and spending time with friends.

This Amanda’s third year on staff and her second year as a CA. “I love being able to get to know residents and being able to be the person that makes a difference in someone’s life.” Amanda said about her favorite part of this position. Amanda has accomplished a lot in her position including winning the Returning Staff Member of the Year award last spring for her work during the 2012-2013 school year. Academically, Amanda’s accomplishments include working on a physics research project last year and having her own science curriculum project this year, receiving the Nancy J. Sell Memorial Scholarship, the Founders Association Scholarship, and a University Leadership Award. Overall this position has taught Amanda a great self-confidence.

Amanda also reflected on her favorite memory from her time on staff. “There are too many good memories to choose from.” Amanda said. “Most of my favorite memories are just from getting together with other RAs and having so much fun that we can’t breathe because we are laughing too hard.  I have made some of my closest friends through the RA staff and I can’t wait for the many adventures that we will have together even after college.”

Thanks for all you do Amanda!
