Today the RA/CA spotlight is shining on Heather Bekkers, a Community Advisor for the phase one community. Her friends call her Heather and she is an english major with a double emphasis in education and creative writing and a minor in education. In her free time, Heather likes to sing, watch Disney movies, and hang out with friends and residents.

Heather has been on staff for three years. Her first year she was an RA and the following years she has been a CA.  When asked what her favorite part of the job was, she said “I love being able to get students engaged and being there to help when they need it. The most rewarding part is when they go on to become amazing leaders on campus and you know that you knew them when they first started.” Heather said that overall this position has taught her that life is one big learning experience and learning can happen at any time.  Heather said that because of her position she has gotten to see many residents grow and become amazing members of the UWGB campus. She has also received a University Leadership Reward.

Heather also shared her favorite staff memory. “My favorite memory is seeing a former resident, who became and RA, win an award for their leadership,” Heather said.” I could not have been more proud of their accomplishments.”

Thanks so much Heather! Have a great year!
