The year round Project IT Internship position will assist the Project Management team members with all aspects of the project lifecycle. Such activities will include drafting and obtaining approval for scope change documents, design documents, change control forms and project closing documents. This position will also develop meeting agendas, distribute project communications to stakeholders and update risk registers. The Project IT Intern will continue to develop skills in the areas of Project, Resource, Task and Communication management. The Project IT Intern is responsible for developing an understanding of Project Management methodologies as well as other supporting tools for project planning purposes. Duties may span from simple project task management to ultimately management of small projects in the IT Project Portfolio.
- Strategy and Planning
- Acquire a basic understanding of the Alta Project Management methodologies.
- Develop small project plans and associated communication documents.
- Estimate the resources and participants needed to achieve project goals.
- Plan and schedule project timelines and milestones using appropriate tools.
- Execution and Service Delivery
- Direct and manage project lifecycle from execution to close.
- Provide assistance to project team with drafting and obtaining approval for scope change documents, design documents, change control forms and project closing documents.
- Assist Project Management group with project risk assessment.
- Plan small project resources and tasks using appropriate tools.
- Identify and manage project dependencies and critical path.
- Communication and Collaboration
- Communicate with project stakeholders on an ongoing basis.
-nIdentify and resolve conflicts within the project team.
- Build, develop, and grow any business relationships vital to the success of the project.
- Communicate work instruction to project resources.

TECHNOLOGY SKILL BASE
This position requires a working knowledge of computer technology that includes: Microsoft Office Suite, primarily intermediate to advance level of expertise in Excel; along with Alta designated software. Individuals must possess the ability to learn and understand new software and other technology applications as introduced by the Client and Alta Resources.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for up to eight hours, and stand. Manual dexterity which allows the individual to use hands to type on a keyboard, use a mouse and write are required, as is the ability to talk, and hear The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
