No Waste Breakfast and Food Day 2014

On October 20th, 2014, the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay will be celebrating Food Day. What is Food Day? A giant talk and celebration of food of course! It will be lead by panel discussion comprised of local trailblazers who play an active role in our local food system (farm to fork to soil) starting at 2:30pm in the Phoenix Rooms, followed by a massive (free) meal created from primarily local ingredients! The 20th will also feature the two-time James Beard Award Winning Chef, Michel Nischan, as the night’s keynote speaker.

The Campus Kitchen at UWGB will be helping to kick off the morning of the 20th with a No Waste Breakfast from 7:30am to 10:00am in the Mauthe Center. Set up starts at 7:00am. We will be collecting left over bakery goods intended for the trash and instead serving them for free for breakfast to help reduce consumable waste in the local community. Help spread the word and show up for a good meal before your first class. All left over items will then be donated to Paul’s Pantry.

If you would like to help serve at the No Waste Breakfast, links are currently live on our Volunteer Hub in one-hour shifts.
