Student Academic Requirements for Credit

Students interested in receiving credit for a Business Administration internship must have declared a Business Administration major or minor, a minimum of 36 earned credits and have an overall G.P.A. of at least 2.50.

Students interested in receiving credit for an Accounting internship must have declared an Accounting major or minor, a minimum of 36 earned credits, completed and passed ACCTG 301, Intermediate Accounting, and have an overall G.P.A. of at least 2.75.

Students in a full time internship may receive 9-12 internship credits in one semester. A minimum of 50 hours of work per credit is required.   Internship responsibilities must be commensurate with those of an entry level accountant. The intern must be supervised by someone with appropriate training, education and experience.

Prerequisites for Business Full Time Internships:

  • 2.5 GPA minimum
  • The student must have made significant progress in their respective degree. The following course requirements will be used as a guideline.
    • Minimum of 15 credits of upper level accounting or business courses (includes core and emphasis courses but excludes supporting courses)
    • Minimum of 6 credits of upper level coursework in their emphasis area in addition to the 15 credits listed above

Prerequisites for Accounting Full Time Internships:
2.75 GPA minimum
