February 2 – Alumni Association Hosts Women’s Basketball Event

The UW-Green Bay Alumni Association is hosting a reception event at the Saturday, February 2 Green Bay Women’s Basketball game against UIC.

The event begins at 1:15 p.m. with a reception in the Phoenix Fund Events Room at the Kress Events Center. There will be great food and drink along with other cool stuff to cheer on the Green Bay Phoenix. The game begins at 2 p.m. There will also be chances to win fantastic prizes.

Cost is a donation of $7 for alumni and $10 for non alumni guests. Please RSVP to the Alumni Relations Office by Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at alumni@uwgb.edu.

June 7 – Save the Date: Alumni Scholarship Golf Outing

Save the date for the 2013 Alumni Scholarship Golf Outing! Let this be the great excuse you need to get out of the office to swing your clubs for a great cause…scholarships for deserving students attending UW-Green Bay! This event is hosted by your Alumni Association and its purpose is to raise funds for the scholarships the Association awards each year. So get a group of friends together and join us! Writing this post made me a little nervous being that this week’s featured alumni has been a successful writer for the past 30 years!  No critiquing please:)  Meet alumnus Dan Flannery, an all around great guy and a fantastic writer.  Another alum UW-Green Bay is very proud of.

Hobbies: Guitar, golf, movies, dining, cottage life in Oconto County
Volunteer Interests: Board member for the Community Blood Center in Appleton, oversee four annual Do It! Community Challenges at The Post-Crescent that raise money and awareness for basic needs and services.
Something you don’t know about Dan: He was a student station manager and operations manager at WGBW-FM, the UW-Green Bay campus radio station in the late 1970s-1980; did variety of shows, news/sportscasts. He also played guitar and bass and sang in lounge-disco bands of the day. Dan is one of UWGB’s Top 25 featured alumni in 2008′s “Degrees of Excellence” honors (www.uwgb.edu/25000/featured/flannery.html).

Volunteer Interests: He is a member of the Phoenix Fund, is a Eucharistic minister, attends Eagle Scout Ceremonies and Habitat for Humanity openings
