Help Brian Sutton Finance ‘Searching for Romeo’

brian sutton by searching for romeo posterA play by UWGB English faculty member Brian Sutton is headed for New York City—and Prof. Sutton is seeking your help in financing the production. Sutton’s musical comedy Searching for Romeo, which premiered with a sold-out run and standing ovations in July 2012 at UWGB’s Jean Weidner Theatre, has been named an official selection of the New York Musical Theatre’s 2014 Next Link Project. In the past decade, former New York Theatre Festival shows have been performed in 24 countries and on Broadway, winning awards such as the Pulitzer Prize for Drama and the Tony Award for Best Musical. Searching for Romeo will receive a professional production with five performances this coming July at a 42nd Street theatre.

Although the festival itself provides substantial financial support, Searching for Romeo has an additional budget of almost $75,000. Tax-deductible donations toward defraying production costs may be made through the UW-Green Bay Foundation by clicking on http://goo.gl/ydwz49 or by going to the Searching for Romeo website at searchingforromeomusical.com and clicking on “Donate.” The website also contains a wealth of additional information about the play, including recordings of songs from the play and photos from the 2012 production on the UWGB campus.
