Habitat for Humanity Service Learning Trip Needs Your Help

DSC01384For many alumni, a Habitat for Humanity service learning trip over winter or spring break was one of the most memorable experiences of their college career. Perhaps there are some alums who would now like to help other students have that life-changing experience. Ten UWGB students have been invited to participate in a Habitat for Humanity Global Village trip to Bicol, Philippines in August 2014 to build homes and hope for families there. Adviser and Dean of Enrollment Services Mike Stearney will accompany the students. The UWGB team will be joined by teams of college students from Japan and the Philippines on this special multi-national project. Sixty student volunteers will work near Naga City to build a community of homes for rural families impacted by poverty and Typhoon Haiyan. The typhoon last November damaged or destroyed more than a million homes in the Philippines. Rebuilding lives will continue well into the coming years, but the path forward for families starts with a home. The students need partners to make this happen. Each student needs to raise approximately $1,700 to cover their trip expenses. If you can help, please consider making a donation to https://share.habitat.org/gv15340.
