UW-Green Bay Prof. Jennifer Zapf is asking Green Bay-area alumni, University employees and returning adult students with young children to consider volunteering for a visit to the Language Learning Lab on campus. Zapf and her Human Development and psychology students are conducting a major study of toddlers’ skill and language development.
Participation is easy, with only a single 30- to 45-minute session in which the parent will gently guide his or her child through a few simple play exercises. Participants (the children, anyway) get a free book or toy as a parting gift. Zapf and/or one of her student research assistants will observe.
If you have a child between the ages of 1 and 3 and a willingness to play games for science, contact Zapf at MAC Hall C310; e-mail zapfj@uwgb.edu, phone 920-465-2490. Parents can sign up online at the project website, www.uwgb.edu/learnlab.

By now you may have heard that Student Apartment Building 109 burned to the ground this summer. Fortunately it was unoccupied, and there were no injuries. Arson has been ruled out. Approximately 60 of the 2,000 students returning to live on campus in fall of 2009 are currently being helped by University officials to locate alternative housing while campus officials investigate longterm solution. Could more suites be in our future? We would love for you to share your memories of living in 109. Perhaps you met your future spouse there. Did you begrudge having to make the longest walk to classes and the Union? Did you request 109 for four years? Why? Please click on the following link and share your thoughts.
