Phoenix men to host Badgers

Among the season highlights, the Phoenix men’s basketball team will host UW-Madison at the Resch Center on Wednesday, Dec. 9. Tip-off is at 7:05 p.m. Tickets go on sale Friday, Oct. 2 at 11 a.m. Call Ticketstar at (920) 494-3401.

Alumni and friends are welcome to a pre-game gathering at The Bar from 5-7 p.m. A cash bar and light hors d’oeuvres will be provided.

Also, the men’s basketball team plays its first-ever game at the Kress Center this year, hosting St. Norbert College at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7.

wineJust back from San Diego International Wine Competition: Trout Springs Winery won three gold medals for its “Afternoon Delight.” Now, you and your friends are invited to taste the award-winner and others from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday, July 23 at Trout Springs Winery, 8150 River Road, Greenleaf, Wis. (just outside the town of Wayside). Enjoy the beauty and the wonderful wines being produced from Wisconsin-grown grapes and other fruit. Cost is only $5 for the wine tasting, payable at the door. Wines will be available for purchase by the glass or by the bottle, plus cheese and cracker, pesto, and smoked salmon pate plates available for purchase. Cellcom Marathon: WE NEED VOLUNTEERS!! – Sunday, May 17

Cellcom Marathon

We need your help!

Please join your Alumni Association at a water station serving more than 5,000 runners in the Green Bay Cellcom Marathon, Sunday, May 17. We typically start about 7:30 a.m. and are done by 10 a.m. Then we head to the finish line for food and refreshments. It’s fun!

Scholarship Golf Outing – Friday, June 12

golfSAVE THE DATE, it’s getting closer! Join us on Friday, June 12 for the 29th Annual Scholarship Golf Outing at the Royal Scot Golf Course in New Franken.

The annual event promises to be a day of fun, including 18 holes of golf, beverages, lunch, hole events, putting contest, raffles, post-golf hors d’oeuvres reception, power carts and more!

Teams play a four-person scramble format. Prizes will be awarded to the team with the lowest scores and handicap winners.

• Registration begins at 8:30 a.m.; shot-gun start at 10 a.m.
• Cost is $80 per golfer/$320 per foursome. Sponser a tee or green for $125 each, or both for $200.
• Proceeds benefit student scholarships.

Grandparents’ University Summer Session – Thursday & Friday, July 30-31

ml-grandpa-computerGrandparents and their grandchildren between the ages of seven and 14 can share their love of learning at the two-day Grandparents’ University summer camp at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay.

The event takes place July 30-31, and will allow grandparents and children to explore together a topic of interest and enjoy summer activities on the scenic bayshore campus.

Registration for Grandparents’ University continues through July 9 on a first-come, first-served basis. Participants will meet at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 30, and the program ends at 2:30 p.m. Friday, July 31, following a graduation ceremony.

The fee for Grandparents’ University is $185 per adult and child pair. The fee includes instruction, activities, a cookout on Thursday night, parking and a T-shirt. Each additional adult is $125 and each additional child is $75.

Grandparents’ University attendees may commute or choose to stay in UW-Green Bay student suite apartments. The cost for on-campus lodging is a flat rate of $60 for a four-bedroom suite. Commuters and residents alike may purchase a meals package for $20 per person that includes Thursday and Friday lunches and Friday breakfast. Individual meal tickets may be purchased at check-in.

Receiving Distinguished Alumni Awards will be Chris Stix ‘76, retired Morgan Stanley analyst; Barbara Polich ‘72, commercial litigation and intellectual property lawyer; and Paula Fleurant ‘75 and ‘86, retired quality care manager, St. Mary’s Hospital, Green Bay.

Receiving the Outstanding Recent Alumni Awards are Joel Hansen ‘01, supervisor with Schenck Business Solutions, Green Bay; and Justin Rebman ‘06, a financial representative and college unit director for Northwestern Mutual Financial Network, Green Bay.

8th Annual Academic Excellence Symposium – Wednesday, April 8

The symposium is an annual event that allows undergraduate and graduate students to display outstanding scholarly and creative work. The symposium is sponsored by the Phi Kappa Phi honor society and the Office of the Dean of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
