It’s been a sweet season for the Phoenix women’s basketball program. Can the Phoenix keep the momentum rolling and make a return to the Sweet 16? One game at a time, starting with the Horizon League quarterfinal March 7. A win would see the Phoenix hosting the semi-finals and championship Friday, March 9 and Sunday, March 11, respectively.

The annual basketball Alumni Day for men’s and women’s basketball always draws a crowd. Events included a pre- and post-game reception for all Phoenix alumni, throwback jerseys for the youth, and alumni introductions at halftime. The Phoenix beat the Bulldogs 80-68 in front of its largest crowd of the season.
The UW-Green Bay women’s basketball alumni gathered on Saturday, Feb. 11 to celebrate more than 35 years of excellence. Events included an Alumni Game, halftime introductions with the Special Olympians on campus for the day, a post-game reception, and more.

Legendary UW-Green Bay men’s basketball coach Dick Bennett spent some time at UWGB recently. The Phoenix Hall of Famer and current head coach Brian Wardle discussed a variety of topics, including Bennett’s recent visit with the men’s and women’s basketball staffs, the history of the program and the task of building a program and creating an identity. Join fellow UW-Green Bay alumni at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 5 at Centercourt Pub & Grille in Milwaukee to get fired up for the big game as the Phoenix men take on rival UWM.

The schedules are out for the 2010-11 men’s and women’s basketball seasons.
The men will kick off at home against Minnesota Duluth at the Kress Center on Nov. 13. The women face Bucky and the rest of the Badgers for their regular-season opener at the Kress Center on Nov. 18. Get ready for an exciting season!

Phoenix Fan Fest will take place Saturday, Nov. 13, from 1-5 p.m. at the Kress Events Center. The event will include numerous activities, including inflatables, face painting, balloons, games, an appearance from Phlash the Phoenix and opportunities for autographs from your favorite Green Bay student-athletes. Kids who attend Phoenix Fan Fest will receive free admission to the 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 13 men’s basketball game. Athletics will be hosting a number of events at the Kress Events Center during UW-Green Bay’s Family Weekend, Nov. 12-14, including the volleyball team’s season finale against UIC on Friday, Nov. 12.

For the first time in history, both the men’s and women’s Phoenix basketball teams defeated in-state rivals, the UW-Madison Badgers. Both Phoenix teams appear to be headed for a super season. As of this printing the women are undefeated and rank 23rd in the nation. Oh, and don’t forget about swimming!
