Save the Date: June 13 – Scholarship Golf Outing

Friday, December 13th, 2013

If thinking about golf gets you pumped up, save the date — June 13 — for the 2014 Alumni Scholarship Golf Outing. Last year more than $9,000 was raised for student scholarships. Exceeding that amount means we can help more students reach their goals! This event is hosted by your Alumni Association. So get a group of friends together and join us! For more information on registration or sponsorship opportunities, please contact the Alumni Relations Office at alumni@uwgb.edu or 920-465-2226.

Date: Friday, June 13, 2014
Time: 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
Location: Royal Scot Golf Course in New Franken

Your Alumni Association Board is also looking for volunteers to help plan and coordinate this year’s golf outing. If you’re looking for a way to reconnect and give back to your alma mater, this is a great opportunity! Contact us at alumni@uwgb.edu or 920-465-2226 to volunteer.

Wipfli Business Lunch

Friday, December 13th, 2013

On Friday, December 6, several UWGB alumni employed at Wipfli attended a business lunch with UWGB faculty and staff. The event started with a light lunch allowing alumni to mingle and connect with each other along with University leadership and faculty. The group was welcomed by Wipfli Partner Dan Pichler to its beautiful location in Howard, Wis. Kari Moody, UWGB director of Alumni Relations, updated the group on upcoming alumni events, benefits and UWGB’s new brand.  Associate Dean for the College of Professional Studies, Lucy Arendt, and Interim Assistant Chancellor of University Advancement, Jeanne Stangel, spoke about the importance of scholarships for our students. In conclusion of the event, Dan presented UW-Green Bay with a check to support their endowed and annual scholarships for students majoring in accounting. Thank you to Wipfli and their employees for supporting our students.

We hope this great alumni event will be replicated by several other area businesses in 2014.

Give the Gift of Education and Opportunity

Friday, December 13th, 2013

With the season of giving upon us, please consider making a gift back to your alma mater. Alumni support is more important now than ever, as tuition continues to increase, while other funding sources remain flat or decrease. Your gift helps support UW-Green Bay students through scholarships or supplementing costs for academic programs.

For example, UW-Green Bay alumni helped 47 students receive more than $60,000 in scholarships this year. This is especially important since 82% of UWGB undergraduates qualify for, and receive some form, of financial aid. With more than 6,700 students to support, know that every little bit helps, and adds up to a big difference for UW-Green Bay students! Find out how to make your tax-deductible gift, https://secure.qgiv.com/for/alumnienews/.

UWGB LGBTQ Network

Friday, December 13th, 2013

UWGB has an LGBTQ Resource Center on campus, and a way for alums to connect off campus as well —through Facebook. Much like geographical Alumni Networks, the UWGB LGBTQ Alumni Network is a way to connect, keep in touch and network with other alums in the LGBTQ community. The Facebook group is a closed group (you need to request to join), allowing only the members of the group to see the wall and postings. If you want to be a part of the LGBTQ Alumni Network simply find us on Facebook and ask to join!

Additionally the LGBTQ Alumni Network would like to meet at least once a year, if not more! While at Pride Alive, a group of UWGB alumni met at the LGBTQ Resource Center booth, and indicated a desire to have a place for UWGB LGBTQ alumni to meet and socialize. The LGBTQ Alumni Network will provide for more of these opportunities. Join the network here: UWGB LGBTQ Network.
