Want to get in on the latest Phoenix fashion? The Phoenix Alumni PRIDE t-shirt is a unique collectible, with a new design each year. This year 2013 alum Katie Van Straten designed the shirt (watch for a competition in 2014). Proceeds from t-shirt sales support UW-Green Bay Alumni Association scholarships.
To show your Phoenix pride, and to contribute to the scholarship fund, order one today! T-shirts are available in adult sizes medium – XXL. Cost is $10 per t-shirt plus $5 for shipping. Send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org with your name, address, the number of t-shirts you would like along with needed sizes. You will then be contacted by the Alumni Relations office for payment options. Go Phoenix!
The Green Bay Holiday Parade takes place at 10 a.m. Saturday, November 23 in Downtown Green Bay. UW-Green Bay will again have a float in the parade and we will be handing out candy on the parade route. This year, we have a special treat for our alumni who are wearing their UWGB gear. “Sport” your UWGB apparel and receive a complimentary ticket to that night’s 7 p.m. Green Bay Phoenix men’s basketball game! Wave us down as the UWGB float goes by and we will hand you a ticket to the game. It’s that easy.
We also invite you to an alumni gathering immediately after the parade. Join us at our alumni tent in the Johnson Bank parking lot, located on South Washington Street, for hot chocolate and goodies. Our affinity partner, Liberty Mutual, will have a hot cocoa toppings bar to sweeten your drink as well. Phlash will be available for photos, too! If game tickets remain, they will also be given to those who attend the alumni gathering.
So come out to the Green Bay Holiday Parade to enjoy the season and support your alma mater! Go Phoenix!
The music we hear at the Holiday Parade is going to be fantastic. We’re so proud to learn that the following bands will be directed by UW-Green Bay alumni.
Karen (Bauer) Iken: East High School
David Viste: West High School
Kevin VanEss: Washington Middle School Jazz
Marc Jimos: Ashwaubenon High School
Becky (Martin) Rego: Franklin Middle School Choir
Alumni Reunion Days in early November was well attended with nearly 200 alumni and more than 80 faculty and staff attending. In total, nearly 400 people came out for the first-time event! With more than 20 event offerings throughout the weekend, ranging from athletic events to art displays and tours of campus, there was something for everyone. We are pleased to hear that many alums said they’ll be back next year and will be bringing their alumni friends with them. To view photos, visit our Facebook page.
This week at the Phoenix Bookstore is the “Thanks for Giving Food Drive and Sale.” Until November 23, donate a non-perishable food item or cash and receive a discount coupon valid on your entire clothing and gift purchase. Give more and save more; 1 item equals a 10% discount, 2 items equals a 20% discount and 3 items or $3.00 equals a 30% discount. All donations go to Ben’s Wish Food Pantry.

December is busy for everyone and there’s no exception for UW-Green Bay alumni. But count UWGB alumni among those who are doers and givers, even during the busiest of seasons. We are challenging our alumni to represent the UW-Green Bay Alumni Association in the following volunteer efforts:
• Saturday, Dec. 7 – Red Kettle* Alumni Challenge at Bay Park Square Mall, 10 a.m. – noon
UW-Green Bay alumni have been given a challenge to defeat St. Norbert and NWTC alumni at the annual Bell Ringing Alumni Challenge. We are looking for volunteers who know how to ring bells and show holiday cheer and/or school spirit to help us win! Bring your family. Bring your friends. Just be there! We promise it will be fun. Contact Alumni Association Board Member, Ann Lor, at email@example.com to volunteer for the Red Kettle Challenge.
• Saturday, Dec. 14 – Commencement/Alumni Receiving Line, Weidner Center, 1 p.m. – 2 p.m. Help us congratulate and welcome our newly graduated. (Claim your FREE 360ᵒ of Pride t-Shirt!) Contact your Director of Alumni Relations, Kari Moody, at firstname.lastname@example.org to volunteer for the alumni receiving line.
*Though the Alumni Association supports the positive work the Salvation Army does in our community, the Association does not endorse the views or beliefs of the Salvation Army.
With the season of giving upon us, please consider making a gift back to your alma mater. Alumni support is more important now than ever, as your gift helps support UW-Green Bay students through scholarships and supplement costs for academic programs.
For example, UW-Green Bay alumni helped 47 students receive more than $50,000 in scholarships this year with their donations from last year. This is important, especially since 70% of undergraduate students qualify for and receive some form of financial aid. With approximately 6,500 students this year, know that every little bit helps, and alumni gifts add up to make a big difference for UW-Green Bay students!
