Your Alumni Association Board is seeking board members. This is a great way to reconnect with the University and give back to your alma mater. Have you heard the song ending in, “and a Partridge in a Pear Tree?” Well, we say, “Bah! Humbug!” to that! We prefer, “and a Phoenix in a Shoe Tree.”

Come check out the UW-Green Bay float at the Green Bay Holiday Parade beginning at 10 a.m Saturday, November 17. Many UW-Green Bay departments have collaborated to create a truly one-of-a-kind float that highlights 12 special features of the University — among them the state library of the year, sensational academics, award-winning faculty, one of the top women’s basketball teams in the country, arts and performances, and more.

The shoe tree is also a time-honored tradition at UW-Green Bay. When you graduate, you can fling an old pair of shoes into the “Shoe Tree,” signifying the end of college by leaving a little of your “soul” behind but marking your bright future.

We hope to see you at the parade but also welcome any alumni who want to volunteer to decorate as well. If interested in participating, please contact the Alumni Office at 920-465-2226 or alumni@uwgb.edu.

So how does your Alumni Association sustain itself financially? One of our major fundraisers is the Tuition Raffle. All students living in Wisconsin receive tickets they can purchase in the mail. Raffle tickets can be purchased for $5 each, or $20 for a pack of 5 tickets. By purchasing raffle tickets, students have a chance to win spring semester tuition (approximately $3,900) and two additional prizes of $250 each.

Your Alumni Association will also be selling tickets from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and again from 6 to 7 p.m., on November 10 during Family Weekend. The winners will be drawn prior to the 7 p.m. Comedy City Performance in the Phoenix Rooms. We are very excited to be available to answer questions when so many parents are on campus. If you are interested in volunteering to sell tickets, please contact the Alumni Office at 920-465-2226.

Your Alumni Association is calling for nominations for the Distinguished Alumni Award, Outstanding Recent Alumni Award and Earth Caretaker Award. View criteria at www.uwgb.edu/alumni/awards/. We, UW-Green Bay alumni, have been given a challenge to defeat St. Norbert and NWTC alumni at the annual Bell Ringing Alumni Challenge on Saturday, December 8 from noon to 2 p.m. in Bay Park Square Mall.

We are looking for volunteers who know how to ring bells and show holiday cheer and/or school spirit to help us win!!! Bring your family. Bring your friends. Just be there! We promise it will be fun.
